Julia + Tom
I had a great time photographing Julia and Tom’s wedding at Ft. Belvoir, just outside of Washington, D.C. The ceremony was held at the Ft. Belvoir chapel and the reception was at the Officer’s Club. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer December day to shoot my last wedding of 2007. The weather was mild, which was nice for Julia because she didn’t have to freeze during the formals we took outside. Here are some of my favorites from the wedding.

Playing with the Lensbaby…again!
Being so busy with my real work, I never really get the chance to get out and shoot just for me. But, since Terri gave me the Lensbaby 3G for Christmas, I’ve tried to make more of an effort to get out and photograph stuff that’s a little different. Here are some efforts from yesterday. We were hanging around in Williamsburg and checked out the City Center at Oyster Point in Newport News. I love this lens…it’s so cool and funky!

Terri’s Excellent Adventure
Hi, everyone, this is Terri, Sam’s wife and I wanted to share some pictures with you of my trip to Bangkok. I had the terrific opportunity to go to Thailand for 3 weeks in November with Angela Stott, a friend and talented photographer in Asheville, NC. Angela needed an assistant over there for her November session of shooting portraits of ex-patriate families in Bangkok. Angela’s work is absolutely stunning and she recently was noted in Black & White magazine for her work. Check out her website at angelastott.com. We worked very hard everyday but I was able to have an excursion to the Grand Palace by boat up the Chao Praya river. On the same trip I toured Wat Po, a Buddhist temple, where the famous Reclining Buddha resides. The Buddha is gargantuan and covered in gold leaf. It was an amazing figure. At Wat Po, a three hundred year old Banyan tree had a special place in a garden. The Thai people believe that certain trees are inhabited by gods and goddesses and this tree was adorned with flags, offerings, and statues of Buddha. It also happened to be the home of a mother cat and her litter. One of the pictures included here shows the mother cat as she seems to be meditating in front of a statue of Buddha. Angela and I stayed at a swanky hotel in the Pat Pong district. I was able to get some interesting shots as I walked around daily in the area. Every day Thai people set up their tables in Pat Pong for the famous night market, which is a sight to see! Maddox loves the boxing gloves I brought back for him from this market. Another favorite place of mine was the Jim Thompson House museum. Jim Thompson was an American who moved to Thailand after World War II. He was stationed in Bangkok as an OSS agent (OSS was the precursor for the CIA) during the war and fell in love with the people and the country. He was responsible for reinvigorating the Thai silk trade and his beautiful home is now a museum. Please enjoy these pictures. Thanks, Angela, for the opportunity to travel with you. It was an amazing trip!
